Jéz wins the first World Cup of the season!

Jason Lamy Chapppuis wins the first World Cup of the season 2009-2010 in front of Hannu Mannien (FIN), the "Terminartor" of the Nordic Comebined sport before he officially stopped his career in 2008 to become a pilot, and the young Eric Frenzel of Germany.
With his victory, the man from Bois d'Amont in the Jura will wear the yellow bib of the overall World Cup leader tomorrow for the second World Cup!

After having a 30s lead of the young Germand Frenzel, Jason Lamy Chappuis never had any difficulties to hang on to his first place and could even take it a bit easier and enjoy the race. Finally, he gained the highest step of the podium with 8.1s ahead of Hannu Manninen of Finland. The Finn of the town of Rovaniemi, who had already stopped his career in 2008 to become a pilot of the Finnish Airline Finnair, took his chance to come back to the Nordic Combined circuit and showed his enormous abililty to ski fast already again in the first World Cup of the season where he raced from a 14th place (1min34 behind Jason) after jumping up to the second place. Eric Frenzel, who already won a World Cup in Klingenthal during the season 2007-2008, could gain the last podium place but only after a long fight with Anssi Koivuranta and Jaakko Tallus (both FIN) who had started the race just behind him.

Not a bad start of the season for Jason Lamy Chappuis who has called a medal at the Olympics in Vancouver his goal of the year! We will see if he can secure the yellow bib of the overall World Cup leader also after the competition tomorrow!

The other French weren't as lucky as the leader Jason. After a great jump of 133m and a 9th place after jumping, it looked pretty promising for Francois Braud, but he had to let several skiers pass on the 10km track and finished 15th in the end, 1:36.4min behind Jason. Also Sébastien Lacroix, who had a good jump of 122,5m (18th place) could only gain one place in skiing and finished therefore 17th (+1:44.9min).

Maxime Laheurte, 35th after jumping with a jump of 115,5m, could secure one point for the overall World Cup ranking with his 30th place after the race (+2:51.3min). Jonathan Félisaz, 41st with a jump of 114m after the jumping, could also only gain one place in a foto-finish with Lukas Klaper (AUT) and therefore finished 40th (+3:53.3min).
